An adult is someone who’s 16 and older.
A child is someone who’s 12 and younger.
(A child must ride with an adult. Children may not ride alone.)
Payment is collected when the guest(s) arrives to the Kayak Shack for check-in. Payment can be either cash or card.
No, Myrtle Beach Travel Park will provide the life jackets.
Life jackets must be worn at all times, by all participants, including children.
The life jacket must properly fit and be able to buckle. If your life jacket does not properly fit, for your safety, you will be unable to ride.
MBTP life jackets are U.S. Coast Guard approved.
*A guest may not bring their own life jacket. Due to liability purposes, MBTP provides life jackets to all participants who wish to rent a boat.
This depends on which craft you decide to rent.
Paddle boats have a maximum of 4 people (2 adults/ 2 children), and the weight must be evenly distributed.
2 people are permitted on a tandem kayak at a time (2 adults, or 1 adult and 1 child), the weight must evenly be distributed, and the weight limit adhered to.
1 single rider is permitted on both the single kayaks, adult paddle boards, and youth paddle boards.
Yes, boats are rented on a first-come, first-serve daily basis.
Tickets can be reserved every hour, on the hour.
The last boat will go into the water 1 hour before closing time.
A boat cannot be rented for more than one hour at a time.
Under no circumstances is swimming permitted in the lake.
If a guest is caught swimming or jumping off any boat rental, they will be asked to exit the water and risk forfeiting their weekly or annual pass, without a refund.
If lightning or thunder is seen or heard, the Kayak Shack attendant will make an announcement to everyone in the water with a megaphone. All guests must return to the dock immediately and exit the lake.
If lightning is seen, all rentals must stop immediately. The Kayak Shack will close for 45 minutes from the last strike. Guests must exit the pond and reschedule a rental time. No refund will be issued.
If thunder is heard, all rentals must stop immediately. The Kayak Shack will close for 30 minutes from the last sound of thunder. Guests must exit the pond and reschedule a rental time. No refund will be issued.
In the event of strong winds, the Kayak Shack will close, due to inclement weather.

MBTP Watercraft Rental Rules
All participants must always adhere to the rules.
- A life jacket MUST always be worn
- Children 12 and under MUST be with an adult (16 years of age or older)
- Boats are rented on a first-come, first-serve basis
- All participants must always remain in the boat
- Weight must always be evenly distributed
- Hands and feet must always be inside the boat
- NO standing on or inside the boat
– Standing is only permitted on the paddle board - NO swimming, fishing, alcohol consumption, or boat bumping is permitted while on the boat
- NO paddling near the fountains, boats must stay at least 20 feet from the fountains
