Introducing New General Manager, Travis Thompson
My name is Travis E. Thompson. I am a native South Carolinian, born and raised in Irmo, SC. To say I have spent most of my life in RV resorts, would be an understatement. My family owned a home in Ocean Lakes, where we often spent our summers. Upon graduation from high school, I began spending my summers working in local RV resorts.
I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a degree in park and recreation management. After graduation, my journey in the RV industry began to take off. I made multiple stops at both Ocean Lakes and PirateLand campgrounds in the Myrtle Beach area during the early stages of my career. I spent a decade in the mountains of North Carolina, as the General Manger at Stonebridge RV Resort. During this time, I also held the duties of Regional Manager, covering properties from Wisconsin to Maine, and down to North Carolina. I have spent the past 3 ½ years as the General Manager at Willow Tree RV Resort in Longs, SC. My journey has given me the opportunity to work in all types of campgrounds and resorts, from corporate to municipal, to the family-owned variety.
I currently sit on the board for the Carolina Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, better known as CARVC, representing RV Resorts in the Carolinas. I am also the president of the Myrtle Beach Campground Owner’s Association.
I’m excited for this opportunity at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. I am ready to hit the ground running and have been welcomed with open arms. Here are a few things I’m hoping to work on: increasing the number of special events offered during the off-season, continuing to upgrade the facilities and the guests’ overall experience, and to build on the Park’s reputation as one of the area’s most family friendly campgrounds.
